I don't think he does actually think Hughton will keep us up. I think he is hoping and praying and just completely unsure whether replacing him would be a gamble worth making.
I think he is trying to say that anhy gamble would need to be based on the best possible odds of success.
But how can we know? Would the new manager be a Pulis? or a Redknapp?
