You could say they've been a bit unlucky

Hull game was all or nothing. After we won that they gambled that he'd be able to do enough. It;s now obvious they've lost that gamble - but unfortunately transfer window is now closed and it's really too late to go looking for a new manager (or to persuade anyone decent to come here).

If only that game, and the subsequent defeats, had come a couple of weeks earlier. (We might even have been in a better position now had we lost to Hull who knows - but am aware that even entertaining that kind of thought makes some rothers very angry.)
