Why it is not too late to change manager

For those who may think it is too late to change the manager, I don?t agree.

It is disappointing that the board has been too quiet. Apart from McNally on Radio Norfolk a few weeks ago there has been nothing, which in fans eyes is may be seen as apathy, or letting things drift (which I am sure is not the case, they have decided against ultimatums or the dreaded ?vote of confidence?).

But Hughton?s overall performance has been poor:
? Bought 4 strikers, who have contributed between them 6 league goals all season. I don?t disagree that
we needed new ones, as Jackson was not, in my opinion, good enough, Holt obviously wanted to go etc. But Ricky looks to me as if he plays like football is a non-contact sport, Elmander does not ever look like scoring, Becchio can?t even get a game (why did we get him?) and Hooper is not the player to hold the ball up and does not get the service on which he thrived at Celtic.
? I am not by any means an expert but at times tactics seem questionable, e.g. Everton where we were overrun in midfield.
? Hughton is not able to change a game. The game plan is there, if it does not work, there is never any plan ?B? In the words of Mr Micawber he thinks ?something will turn up?.
? The timing and efficacy of substitutions is simply unacceptable, 63 subs, no assists or goals from one of them?
? The failure to strengthen in the January Window will be costly. We are not scoring goals, so we get a defender and an over the hill midfielder from Newcastle. To be honest I have no particular issue with Yobo, given Turner is out, so needed cover, but the failure to improve the squad at this vital time, particularly bearing in mind our form and position is simply not good enough when Palace, Cardiff, Fulham and others have all been far more active than us, adding players that they think can make a difference.
? Confidence of the team appears to be very low.

In addition, his handling of some players has been disgraceful, particularly Hoolahan, where if introduced, would have made a difference.

The only thing in favour of not changing the manager is that the four teams below us have all changed theirs, and time will tell if that works, although the fortunes of Fulham and Cardiff have not drastically improved. On the other hand Palace have, and Sunderland have only lost 2 of their last 10 league games.

That definition of insanity? ?doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? applies to us. Nothing has really changed as the season has progressed. 4 goals scored in the last 10 league games. We are now 68% of the way through the season. If it was going to get better it would have done by now.
Because of this, for me, not too late to change the manager. A bit of a wish, but we need somebody who is experienced and can lift the mood in the club. In the absence of a suitable permanent candidate, and given that Ireland not going to Brazil maybe get somebody like Martin O?Neill in (ala Guus Hiddink at Chelsea post Scolari) in for the rest of the season to keep us up. Or Guus, but he may be a bit pricey!

But the board must act now, as time is running out.
