Yes, I was present at both Millwall and Derby, so feel qualified to say my piece.
I have never been a Nigel Worthington fan, but am prepared to accept that we have had some great times under his guidance. That cannot be challenged.
Today was an absolute disgrace and insult to all genuine Norwich City fans!! What typifies this is Mark Edworthy. Why oh why did we let him go, an honest pro who performs well at Championship level! The reason = Nigel Worthington who felt that Jurgen Colin and sicknote Matthieu Louis-Jean were adequate replacements! Mr Worthington also believed playing Peter Thorne and then Andy Hughes (against Millwall) down the right wing was a tactical masterpiece. Mr Worthington has had a week to prepare aginst Derby surely knowing that if you stop Idiakez playing then you stop Derby! No, he gives him the freedom of Pride Park and he dismantles our hapless pride and joy!
May I also state my disgust at all the players with the exception of Robert Green and Dean Ashton who failed to acknowledge the fans at the end of the game. Dickson Etuhu could not wait to run down the tunnel at the final whistle. If only this so called missing piece to our midfield jigsaw could play with such similar appetite and directness on the pitch, instead of hiding away and doing nothing. Ian Henderson is supposed to be a product of our wonderful youth policy. It's ironic, but these days we either flog them (Danny Crow and Paul Hayes spring to mind) or we are left with the next Chris Llewellyn (Hendo)! Sorry Chris. Ryan Jarvis is turning into Safri and Louis-Jean with injury niggles.
We are supposed to have one of the best youth set-ups in the country and we are just not producing them. What a falicy. I hope Rossi Jarvis can prove me wrong.
Not only do we play like a bunch of clueless fools, but also there seems to be little desire and barely any passion to speak of and getting back to today if I dare........ Mr Worthington's genius substitution today meant taking off Peter Thorne and to play Ashton on his own in attack with no support whatsoever. Another tactical masterpiece which of course FAILED.
Delia has done so much good for the club and I admire her loyalty by sitting with the fans today, but she made one fatal error. Don't mix business with pleasure. She may have sold more Christmas collection books than anyone else (Jamie Oliver might be a rival now), but the board are far too close to Nigel and the management team and I fear it has become one unhealthy "click" which is not good for the Football club. Please please please do the right thing and go with grace and dignity Nigel. Let the fans remember the good times before the bad times overtake. I fear this may of happened to some of us already. I can take losing if I feel we played with passion and heart, but not with the dysfunctional efforts from a team that should be capable of so much more!!!
Spineless is a good choice of word, but the club belongs to the fans and the players should feel honoured to wear the shirt. I can honestly count on one hand those who wear that shirt with pride and distinction. The fans deserve better than that, but I want ACTION now.
For what it's worth I would make an approach for blackburn's number 2, Mark Bowen. He was an excellent number two to Steve Bruce at Birmingham and now Mark Hughes at blackburn. He has also been involved with the Wales set-up and maybe he is ready to be the man in charge. He knows our club and was the best left back in my time at Norwich City. I would try and lure Ian Crook back as a coach and maybe Iwan in a similar capacity. A safe choice could be George Burley, but would he come. I would take a risk with Bowen, but right now Dean Coney would be a better option than Nigel.
Today was yet another straw that broke the camel's back. Don't forget we have alsdo lost bthe joint most games in the league and that was Derby's first home clean sheet this season.
THE BOARD MUST ACT NOW. NO MORE UNNECESSARY ROGER MUNBY UPBEAT MOTIVATIONAL SPEECHES. IT DOESN'T WASH WITH ME!!!!
Thank you and good night, Daryl Hutch.
