Good luck with the TC hunting by the way. It was hard enough 'back in my day', and I seriously doubt I'd have much of a chance these days.
Don't write off the regions for TCs. If you can get into one of the larger ones then it's probably better training than what half the City firms offer and heading back to London is a reasonably well trodden path.
(Also be wary of paralegalling for too long - try switching to a bank or in-house (whether legal or a commercial role) as it'll boost the CV a bit more and it may even save you from a career in law (he says, in a jaded one)).
