I've been to a good 70/80% of away games over the last few years, this season though I have had to give most aways a miss due to financial reasons and, in all honesty, i'm quite glad that is the case. Don't get me wrong and think it sounds a bit fairweather'ish, I have seen some right stinkers over that period (Forest away two years running anybody?), but at the time you could just about see past it as our home form has been so good.
This year however a lot of the home performances have lacked quality, imagination and, most of all, the expected result.
I don't post too much on here these days, but I do read and all I see after away games is people who have been stating how crap we have been, no effort, no direction, etc.
To me, that points to only one thing - the management. While they cannot control how players perform once they cross the white line, they do decide on positions, tactics, etc and time and again have failed to make the correct changes - Peter Thorne the right winger being the one that springs to mind, not the first time someone has been asked to play well out of position, especially one they will never adapt to.
Sorry, Nigel, many thanks for the success you have brought to the club but now is the time to say goodbye before it turns to a disastrous failure.
