The Mata transfer..... (from our site -and my take on it too)
"Don't slag off Mata"...absolutely right
But there's a difference between slagging him off, and saying quite plainly he appears to be a bit weaker a character than it previously seemed.
He's been regularly available for the team for little over 3 months of football (rejoined late, had to get fit). Yet we sit in January and it would appear he's asked to go.
The second irritation is United can offer him a maximum of 16 games more this season. He's CL and FA Cup-tied, so it's PL games only.
Meanwhile, we have an FA Cup, CL and PL campaign to finish off. He'd still get more football there assuming he plays the majority of each game - but I'd bet not by a huge amount. Assuming he's thought that part through, what Mata's actually saying is he sees the long-term future at United as being better for him than at Chelsea (where he gave it an admirable 3.5 months after being POTY twice previously).
Bearing in mind Moyes' system, and managerial talents, what kind of mind-bending drug must he have ingested to come to that conclusion?
The one thing I can guarantee is during Jose's tenure here United will finish below us every single season.
So no, let's not slag him off, but let's not sweeten the pill either. A player the fans thought adored the club, took f**k all time of challenging circumstances to piss off. "
