I suffer from it...

....in both feet, arthritis in both big toe joints and bone growth. Pain is caused when joints bend ie walking..! Had inserts made which fit in shoe to reduce movement in joints. Helped. Presumably shoes which have similar effect would help - stiff soles? But now succumbed to sugery recommendation. Just had first toe fusion op. Other will follow later in year. My last desperate attempt to be able to last 18 holes on golf course. Last resort tho has had side benefit of stopping me watch city live for next few weeks....
