I was hoping for 26 points by the end of January

seeing as I thought that we were capable of picking up a fair few points from December onwards. We're now on 23 points with one more game to go this month. A draw against the Toon would be a decent result and 24 points would be a fair total seeing as 38 points should be enough to stay up this season. A win would be an amazing result and I would be confident of survival if that occurred.

It was a dull game today with our movement being very static, but as I've said time and time again I don't mind us being a bit cumbersome while we're gaining decent results. After the first five or so minutes we never looked like losing or conceding for that matter, so I felt that was a much deserved victory in a game where we controlled the possession, despite some awful finishing and decision making in the final third.

I'm not sure what's up with RVW. Whether it's a lack of confidence, quality or both, but the guy looks nothing like an ?8.5 million striker. He has really poor chemistry with Hooper who tends to play much better by himself, so I'm not sure if persisting with both together is best in the short term. Fingers crossed RVW's one of those strikers who just takes a while to adapt, but when he does he'll be a gem.

Jonas had a solid debut but you can see why he has a poor assists and goals record at prem level. Looked comfortable on the ball and unlikely to lose possession or be bossed around, but never looked like a threat in the final third. Fer also had a solid game and his passing looked decent at times, so hopefully he's getting back to his best.
