Hughton was a highly rated up and coming manager with a great track record, who many believed (at the time) was unfairly dismissed by Newcastle. It's easy to criticise with the benefit of hindsight but few people at the tone believed it was a bad appointment, nor could they have foreseen how badly his second season would be. His objective last season was to keep us up, he did that (only just, but he did what he was asked to do). This season has been disappointing, it is admirable that the board have given him time. It's his time to go but it's certainly not the board's mistake in employing him because many people expected better of him.
