The two strikers is a red herring.

We did go in with a pre meditated defensive mindset hence we played a full back on the wing and had 8 players sitting deep. The fact Hughton came out immediately after the match and said how brave he'd been to play two strikers tells you he knew he would be criticised for being defensive. Formations are not the issue.
