i don't like the idea of messing with the league

it's a bit like that 39th game idea.

The league is the purest and most legitimate test there is - everyone plays everyone else once at home and once away, and where you finish at the end of that is where you deserve to be.

A team could potentially gain an extra six points from playing lower league opposition.
