Thanks for your responses on the safestanding survey earlier.
Firstly, the railseats being proposed by the Football Supporters Federation and The Safestanding roadshow are much safer than many current seating arrangements in the UK, with high backed rails that prevent both falling forward, or surges from behind you.
The reality is that thousands of people stand at games every week and many fall over trip hazards caused by high steps and the low backed plastic seats during moments of excitement and you quite rightly point out many grounds have very little leg room, not ideal for police or stewards in an emergency, how do they currently deal with an emergency? they get everyone to stand so they can get through!
As many have already stated, terracing will not mean a return of paying on the gate, far from it, it will be managed in the same way as present, tickets bought in advance to sit or stand in an area of your choosing.
Crowd surges and over allocation of areas will stay in the past where they belong.
Ticket Allocation, be it for specific "seats" with in the standing areas or an allocated row/block, along with CCTV will still allow for games to be policed as they presently are. Racism and Violence will not just erupt as a result of it. Trouble makers cannot just hide in the masses and end up at the back anymore. Police and Stewards can stand at each end of the row and block the exits, then deal with the individual(s) involved.
As for the survey itself, the reason for the age, sex and membership details, is to allow for a number of different demographics when we present our findings to the club.
This way we can prove to the club that its not just 15-30 year olds who currently sit in the lower barclay or snakepit that want this. Its under 16's, middle aged fans, Old age pensioners, women and men, city standers and Jarrolders.
If you feel strongly against it, please complete the survey negatively. Thats exactly the point of it, Opinions!
