He let slip that they are yet to have talks about new signings.

When a board have doubts about a manager then they tend to put off talking about new signings. They will sometimes restrict what a manager can spend so to nudge him to resign and save funds for a new manager.

I wonder whether a draw today was just enough to save his job.
