Warnock wants Hucks if he becomes Pompey manager.

PORTSMOUTH chairman Milan Mandaric wants to know who Neil Warnock plans to sign to save his club's Premiership lives - before he makes him his new boss.

The managerial saga took a bizarre twist last night as Mandaric met Warnock face to face for the first time to discuss his appointment.

And Mandaric, who had a request to speak to Rangers under-fire boss Alex McLeish turned down, is keen to find out Warnock's ideas for the transfer window.

Warnock will have around ?5million to spend and is keen on Tottenham's Michael Brown plus Norwich City attacker Darren Huckerby and possibly Leeds striker Rob Hulse.

The names of the players Warnock wants for the survival fight are now as important a factor as his wage package, thought to be ?3m over three and a half years.
