What we actually need is very simple

Confidence.

These players, under this manager, have produced some wonderful, attacking, pressing performances.

Not recently, though (I'm a confirmed inner and I think yesterday was unacceptable too).

We're leaden-footed, giving the ball away, taking one touch too many, starting to lump it up, all the things that none of these players or this manager really want to do. When we do get a quality cross in the front two are a yard off it.

I honestly think that with the same players, same system, same manager, but some confidence, none of that last paragraph would be true. I think losing 7-0 hurt us badly and we've never really put it behind us properly.

Of course, that diagnosis is simple but the prescription less so. "Two or three good wins" is so easy to say. The fans being on the players' and manager's back is not going to help, though.

But you know what. I've always, always fancied us against manure...
