some traditions can be good you know.....

also, in the dot com IBM/Apple era in the 90's the Americans were the first to adopt a "work casual" approach..... many companies followed, even non-IT companies introduced a "dress down friday" (chino's, tee shirt with collar, shoes - no jeans/trainers) approach.....

In the Naughties the American companies did a U-turn as they found slack dress encouraged slack work..... most have gone back to smart attire and productivity has increased.....

Me? I wore a uniform for over 10 years....at the end of the day couldnt wait to get into "civvies" - actuaslly, today its no different, i prefer to dress smart for work (when called for) so I appreciate dressing in jeans/tee at the end of the day..... funnily enough, when going "Out", pub crawl/club - i now LOVE to wear jeans/shirt as opposed to trousers......as thisis rarer than wearing suits etc.....
