A lot of your recovery from this is when you accept it will happen again. Sorry that's probably not what you want to hear, but it is because it happened last night
For prevention, I know this works. Breathe to the slow count of 6 out, then the slow count of 6 in. It works because you're concentrating on the numbers, and because it's hard
You'll know it's working when you stop doing it and the anxiety instantly comes back. You continue doing it until you realise you're back in control
If you're like me, you'll probably start talking to yourself silently. "errr, I don't think so buddy, I've got things to do today, why on earth have you turned up, f**k off", lol
Good luck with seeing your GP, if you can get as much help, the better. Getting help will just speed up your learning to it from years to months
