I suffered from them for a few years. People who've never had them have no idea how horrible they are. The first and most important thing to realise is that they won't kill you. You're not having a heart attack. My first one happened completely out of the blue on a bus. I had to get off at the next stop which is all part of the fight or flight syndrome. I still have the occasional attack but now know what they are and can manage them. The middle of the night is always a bad time to get them as well as things always seem 100 times worse then. BUT you should see a medic to get it checked out.
