he wasn't "exceptional" here

he was decent enough but didn't remotely look like someone with strikers instincts (4 goals in 15 games for a successful team in Division 1 isn't the stuff you expect from an allegedly international class striker). Crouch is a decent hardworking very mediocre Prem striker. No more, no less.
