I think he still has a part to play but he would be over-run on Wednesday

I'll be accused of trolling, but you simply can't afford to stand on (or be easily barged off) the ball with the frequency that he has in the last two years.
Maybe he was more conscious of that yesterday and he has adapted his game to suit it, but the Wes of three years ago is not good enough to be effective in todays Premier League, with the pace at which the game is played.
Yes, we all love the little flicks and pieces of magic which he is capable of, but the benefits are by far outweighed by the problems associated with his dwelling on the ball, particularly when he is playing too deep.
At least when Fer loses the ball he tends to be pushing forward at speed, whereas Wes tends to be in the middle of the pitch looking for an outlet.
