Teachers do 32:5 hrs a a week directed time ...ie teaching meetings etc. Most teachers teach 5 lessons a day. To plan 25 lessons given 30 mins per lesson including prep of resources means 12.5 hrs plus then marking 150 (30 kids per class) if they spend 2 mins per book means a working week of 32.5+12.5+5 hours - 50hrs. Over 40 weeks 2000 hrs a year.
Most people work 48 weeks a year and do 40 hours so do 1920 hrs a year.
So in fact the holidays are more than absorbed by the weekly hrs.
that said teachers are moaners... I love my job.
