it's not really though

it might be in a big city where the mayor may gain a shed of votes if he goes some way to solving the problem but out in the sticks there is no way cycle lanes can be shoehorned in to accommodate the many people that cycle up and down the country to get fit. greater education and raised awareness for drivers should be the first step. unfortunately this country is too small to have great big cycleways like they do in mainland europe. times i've seen motorists risk a blind overtake just to get past a group of cyclists and save a few seconds. madness.
