You hear about these things happening from time to time, but you never ever, in your wildest dreams, imagine that it would happen to someone you know. I first met John-Paul back in his very early teens when I was introduced to my then-wife's extended family. He's a lovely guy, despite being a Middlesbrough supporter ;) and is living his dream of travelling the world with his girlfriend Kate.

Laos does not have search and rescue helicopter services. A private helicopter has been chartered (at $1500 per hour) to search for John-Paul. Time really is of the essence as it's now 48 hours since he got swept away. Whilst people are searching and doing all they can, there's still hope.
