saying entirely reasonable things like, "it was only a friendly" and "I didn't even recognise some of England's players", along with a few entirely unreasonable things such as "Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard are world class" and "England are still one of the favourites for the world cup".

This is clearly a worrying trend because back in 9 when they beat us last time, they were overjoyed and constantly laying into me. Whereas now, these are the comments of people who feel bad about criticising one who they consider to be far inferior.
