Think simple at first. Look around the laptop shell, look to see if there's a connectivity

switch. If there is, it's possible she's switch the wifi off

If not, turn the laptop over and read what wifi driver is installed. It should say on one of the stickers (atheros etc). Write that number down, you might need it if you need to reinstall that specific driver

Go through any programs you don't use and uninstall (be careful to know they're not system programs, like mouse pointers (synaptics) or microsoft programs). You'll know the ones you need to get rid of (toolbars, mypcdoctor, browser help, speeduplaptop, mylivesearch bulls**t)

Get rid of all that, and then run the cleaner which wipes your net history (1st menu)

That should nicely clean everything up and have it running faster

Clearing a load of s**t spam programs might be the solution to getting the net to work again
