Eeninall. Slightly off-beat fillum review/recommendatio n for you

I watched a fillum called Little Deaths last night. It was actually a compendium of three low-budget British shockers (shockers as opposed to outright horror films, if you get me), the first two of which were pretty much immediately forgettable. The third one, though, was really very good.

In the first, a creepy middle-class couple stalk the local homeless, and then invite a girl to come and have a hot bath and a meal etc. It doesn't go well.

The second is a bit weird, and poorly put together, and is a bit too seedy for its own good.

The third section, called 'Bitch', is good enough on its own for me to find it worthwhile posting about it on here. OK it's not *brilliant* or *special* but it's diverting and compelling and so well acted (tho that may've just been in comparison with the previous two). Er - it's not suitable for kids, for a couple of reasons.

They say that you know an actor is very good if you find yourself hating them (it took me about four movies to stop hating Fiennes after Schindler's List), and the girl who plays The Bitch in this is just ghastly, just the most awful girlfriend, a definite Sagittarius to the power of Sagittarius Cubed. I've just looked her up on imdb and she's called Kate Braithwaite, and I hope she goes on to have a good career. God, I hated her. What a horrible b***h. You'll feel a lot better about your own good lady.

Also on imdb I learned that Bitch was directed by Simon Rumley, and that he also directed Red, White & Blue, which I recommended on here last yearish. You may've seen that, on Sky: it wasn't well named, really. It starred Noah Taylor, who's been Geek Two in a fair few films (including Dad in Submarine) playing an ex-CIA hitman, and he was completely chilling. That's good acting too, then, and good directing.

I'm not suggesting you go out and buy or rent it immediately, leaving your front door wide open and your tea going cold, but you could kind of make a mental note and if it turns up anywhere, have a look. But if you like a film that doesn't follow predictable lines, yep, try and have a look at this, and don't be put off by the first two.
