Is this a reasonable email to send, or would you be less likely....

to respond positively if you received it?

Hi Tom,

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to send you a quick email following on from our conversation yesterday.

As you will be aware I purchased a Honda Civic from you last Friday, 1st November 2013. Registration ******, and the car was purchased at a retail price of ?***** and showed 37,974 miles at date of purchase.

Since purchasing the car I have identified what I believe to be three faults:

1 - Drivers side passenger window switch not working. The switch on the passenger side operating this window appears to be functioning correctly.
2- Possible faulty battery, with the car having been subject to intermittent problems starting up.
3 - Significant amount of white smoke emanating from rear exhaust (both sides). This does not seem to disappear once the engine has warmed up,and is particularly noticeable when the car is in stationary traffic (to the point of embarrassment). I have attached a file containing a video I have taken to demonstrate the level of smoke being generated. I'm not sure if you will be able to view it as it is quite a large file, but I can show it to you on Wednesday, when I bring the car in. Obviously I am very concerned in regard to this third fault as obviously it could be indicative of a more serious problem, such as a problem with head gasket or engine block.

I have every confidence that you will help me in resolving these issues, as indicated by your prompt response to my call yesterday, and your willingness to get the car back in to you next Wednesday 13th November, and to arrange a courtesy car. I however thought it would be beneficial if I gave you as much detail in regard to the issues as possible in advance.

One further concern that I have, is that I have realised I have nothing confirmed in writing in regard to the three month warranty that we verbally discussed at time of sale, although of course I am aware that this probably isn't a significant issue, due to the level of consumer rights I am afforded under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, and Consumer Protection Regulations 2008, specifically "If a consumer seeks a repair or replacement (or when these are not practicable, a partial or full refund) in the first six months after the sale, it will be presumed that the fault or defect was present at the time of the sale." . So I'm not certain the written warranty is crucial, but could be beneficial.

Thanks for your time and help so far.

Kind Regards,
