coaching staff

.... unlike Culverhouse (who I saw an integral to Lambert's success and not always given the credit he deserved) who had built a career in coaching - this applies to neither Calderwood or Trollope. Both are failed managers who have"fallen back" onto a coaching career. I remain unconvinced they have proved they have the necessary skills.
Its a complex relationship between a manager and his back=up staff (I recall in the 1970's a talk by John Bond and Ken Brown and John Ryan which was highly illuminating on how they managed) but what worries me is that CH is too nice a guy to be ruthless in this area - placing loyalty to his mates above his own ambition.
