You'd need to read the judge's sentencing remarks, in order to properly comment on the sen

tences handed down.

It'll contain all the details that s/he used to come up with the sentence durations - prior offences, aggravating considerations, the tariff for the offence itself, any discount for early guilty pleas.

It'll be in the public domain if anyone cares enough to look for it.

But on the whole, probably, yeah. Short jail term probably appropriate. Slightly longer stay in the nick if there's a history of racial aggravation.

I'd make the ban from football longer though. Don't think a lifetime ban would be inappropriate.

But I'd be happy to moderate my views in light of anything illuminating from the judge's sentencing remarks, not that I can be remotely arsed to actually read them.
