Have read a lot recently about how Hughton needs time for his new signings to gel and I simply can't buy it. He has now had 9 league games, 2 cup games and numerous pre season games to gel his players and that is what he is paid handsomely for. This in my eyes is simply not a valid excuse after all we are nigh on a quarter of the way through the league season.
On the subject of booing I admit I vented my frustration in the form of booing on Saturday but it was not aimed at the players who I thought gave everything it was aimed fairly and squarely at the manager and his backroom staff who once again showed a complete lack of knowing how to change tactics during the course of a game to counter act changes made by the opposition manager. Hughton simply does not seem able to think on his feet and react to what is going on in front of him. It was plain to see for me that Malky had packed midfield 2nd have and had also pushed his defensive line much higher up the pitch to close down the space between midfield and defence where we had had so much joy in the 1st half. How could Hughton not see this?
2nd half it was crying out for us to get in behind the higher defensive line Cardiff by playing with some pace up top and in the form of 2 strikers instead Hughton brought on Elmander who has no pace and is never going to run in behind teams.
Michael Calvin's article has also angered me as neither the fact that Hughton is a nice person nor the colour of his skin should have anything to do with this and whilst he does not openly suggest this by bring up these issues he implies it. It should purely come down to his ability as a manager and regrettably due to his tactical inabilities in my eyes he is unlikely to take us to the next level. I hope I'm wrong but this is my view on it.
