My opinion is that he spent last season making us more defensively solid. Now we are starting to control games in midfield, while the next step will be to have more of a cutting edge in the final third.

Perhaps the process has been slower than I would like to see, but I can see clear signs of tactically progression.

If you regard throwing several strikers on when chasing a game, despite them recently coming back from injury, as tactical astuteness, then I would disagree.
