maybe

and maybe if he was tactically worse we'd have looked a disorganised shambles and been comprehensively rolled over. No one really knows. Hughton is putting togther a squad to play his way and to me there are clear signs of improvement over the past month or so, albeit not yet (the Stoke game was huge in showing that we could control a game away from home - can't remember the last time that was true at this level and it gives us the potential to significantly inprove our away record from last season). Getting in someone else to try and get the same players to play a different way is a huge gamble and we should be pretty sure of our reasoning before we take that big plunge.

The league is shaping up like last season - about 8 teams will go clear at the top and the other 11/12 will be scrabbling about beating each other and probably remaining in danger of relegation until the last few weeks. Think that's the new Prem League normal.
