Mike Jones should get clobbered for his handling of the end of the game

yesterday. It's just the latest in a series of consistent blunders this season. He just looked out of his depth.

Whilst I'm glad we didn't profit from a piece of un-gentlemanly play, the close up of the ref whilst the handbags were being flung showed he looked like a little boy lost. He lost total control of the game at that point, and whilst the pushing and shoving was going on, rather than stepping in and sorting it out... he was looking away and seemed to have this expression of "s**t what do I do now" on his face.

Managers and players claim the ref said he hadn't blown his whistle to signal for the throw-in to be taken. Thing is ref's don't blow their whistle for a throw to be taken. Trouble for Jones is that a close up on MotD showed him gesticulating to Ricky to take the throw, which totally contradicts his version of accounts.

Applying the letter of the law, Fer's goal should have stood. In the spirit of the game, I'm glad it didn't.

Yes refs make mistakes, but you need officials with strong leadership and a total belief in their own judgement.

Goals on Sunday are due to bring their view on the incident shortly. I expect them to fully concur with my views.
