I even said this when the rumours started so this isn't a hindsight thing either.
I don't think that Hughton has made bad signings either, maybe a couple of average or inappropriate (for us) ones, but decent overall. Which begs the question, if we have a good squad then why do we fail to score goals and pick up a decent amount of points? That has to be down to him, surely?
I agree that ?30 million isn't a lot compared to the top half sides, but for a bottom half side it's good money and far more than the likes of WBA, Fulham, Sunderland, Swansea and others have spent.
I also hope that the desire to go for potential over has beens and other unimaginative signings doesn't get him the sack, but he was very naive in not going for at least one steady campaigner, especially when so much of our successful core squad has been gutted out over the past year.
