I guess it colours one's feelings though

When your team is full of players you "like" and plays exciting football, your support is incredibly upbeat, like a youthful love affair

When your team is full of stale players that you don't think are that good and who play football you think is boring or crap, then you still support the team, but it's like a bitter old couple staying married out of habit and moaning about each other all the time
