that point probably holds true for lots of things

eg ideas, players and tactics that might have worked last season (or even over the summer) will need to change and adapt this season based on the progress other teams have made.

I liked the comment from someone ealier on here earlier (or one of the linked articles) that you have to keep running just to stand still.
