Was / Is hoots a short term safe option?

I mean yes we are poor ATM , he guided us to a higher Finnish last year, he kept more clean sheets and has brought stability in a sense. I was very pro hoots but even I must admit my patience is wearing thin with our performances. RVW showed abit of promise last game I felt but other than that not much to write home about... I wonder if hoots was a quick fix and now is safer than changing to an unproven manager in the prem? Thoughts?? Oh and also why wAs he sacked at Nufc?
