Ok so Everton and Southampton were good bits and hull and Tottenham were poor and villa was frustrating.
But to say the manager needs to go is just stupid . The manager has been backed this season to the tune of ?25. + million and we on paper now have a hughton team with only a few lambert players in the starting line up on Saturday and I thought the squad that started was a good one.
So let's look at the criticisms of hoots... Tottenham was a master class in midfield strength and we after producing only a single shot on target were poor. Hoots though didn't defend that and against villa the story was different, wolf should have had 2, we somehow missed a pen, rusty Martin was getting down the flanks and hooper should have at least equalised at the end. Villa play the lambert gung-ho way and our desperation to get forward we played right into the hands of lambert who loves a you shoot then we shoot game. But would the fans have accepted a cautious dominate the midfield and try and hold the back line tactic which probably would have got us a 0-0 draw but wouldn't have satisfied the home crowd.
I agree sometimes the football last season wasn't great but would the doubters rather have played a holloway style and got relegated but got praised on motd for how plucky we were ?
A few points I want the doubters to think over. I genuinely think that in hooper we have one of the best goal scorers outside of the top 6 sides and he is hoots player and fer looks a bargain signing so he clearly has a good eye. Getting rid of a manager who's just put together a squad is not a good idea and finally who are we going to get instead right now. ? Alan curbishley - I think I'd start supporting Norwich United ? A Martin o'neill comeback or di Matteo ? - Can't see them happening .
We have to give this squad a chance of gelling and we have to trust the boards judgement ... They believed in hoots enough to give him all that cash and we should too.
