playing him on the left negates his pace because he constantly has to cut inside, where he invariably runs into a crowd of players.
I think the boos were because most people wanted to see Pilks on the left and Redders on the right so that Redders could use his pace to get to the byline and whip in some early crosses (which Snoddy never does, being VERY left footed)
