Yes but the point is we seem hell bent on acting without even

establishing it was Assad. IF it was clearly established he was responsible then I agree it would change things somewhat although i would still want the UN involved if at all possible. Based on what i have seen/read it seems very far from clear that he is responsible. indeed it seems just as likely it was the rebels (who long term seem a worse bet than Assad from our perspective) or a rogue military officer. i just don;t understand why we are seeking a resolution from the UN before their inspectors report back knowing full well we won;t get it past Russia and China in the absence of the UN inspectors reporting back. Its basically looks like we are seeking the resolution to tick a box whilst at the same time making it clear we may well ignore the outcome anyway and do want we (or more likely the US) want.
