I'm hoping that Bassong will make a major difference defensively

as he did last season, concede a lot when he doesn't play.

As for the attacking side of things I think that really comes down to Hughton's tactical approach and appropriate use of players. We had very little width today despite playing five in midfield, which was probably down to having a right foot winger on the left and an ACM on the right. Garrido did later offer support down the left but lacked effort/quality on the ball, as did basically everyone else in the team.

Hughton has to really motivate the team and find out which players are fit/hungry enough to play next week before building a system around them. We have good enough players now, we just have to find out which ones want it the most and which formation they are best suited to.
