RVW/Next weeks match

Some good analysis for one of one of our players on MOTD last night and interesting to see the sort of runs RVW was making. Although he did not get in the game as much as we perhaps would have liked due to our low possession stats his runs and movement bode well IF we can get our midfield on the same wavelength and play the right through balls.

My attitude after yesterday is "cautiously optimistic" that we can have a good season. We have a lot of quality to come into that team and even without those players a draw was a fair result against one of the stronger teams in the division, even if they did dominate possession. The note of caution is due to the fact that for quite long spells it was back to some of the bad habits from last season, backing off, sitting deep and leaving the front man isolated. But the fullbacks got forward a bit more (esp Whitaker - I think Olsson will too once he's fit to start), RVW and Redmond showed promise and we got a decent result. We normally did at carrow Road though last season so for me the really big test and where I want to see some progress is how we go about our business at Hull next week. They will probably have lost to Chelsea today. Their next game is a tough one too so they will be looking at our game as their main chance to bag some points early in the season. We must not go there and hand the initiative to them by playing for a nil nil. "These" are not a great side with better players than us. these are a newly promoted side and we need to impose our game on them. I don't expect us to tear into them from the outset but I do expect some decent possession and territory and for us to create a few chances rather than looking to keep it tight from the off.
