Back from the game my thoughts

Ruddy 7, solid game commanding the area more than bunn does.

Whittaker 9, great forward bombing. The u19 squad sat around me were loving his play, cheering his step overs.

Martin 6, bit too short to stay as number 1 CB, bassong will be welcomed back.

Turner 7, some decent blocks, caught out a few times but battled well with the unit that is fellaini.

Garrido 6, caught up the pitch a bit as he doesn't have much pace, crossing not his best

Redmond 9, the wee man was on fire! What a f**king signing he is!! Our only attacking threat for most of the game

Johnson 6, tackling was great but his distribution was woeful!

Howson 6, quiet game, got lost when in possession a lot of the time

Hoolahan 4, worst game he's had for us. Lost the ball whenever he touched it, no pace, no urgency.

Bennett 6, quiet game, got forward a bit but no end product

Ricky 7, took his goal well, good running at times but the service was lacking.

Overall 6/10 - we were SO negative in the first half we were like a rabbit in the headlights. Could have been 2 down at HT. difficult to assess if this will be hughtons tactics for the season as we were missing 5 main players. The second half after scoring we perked up and passed it around well for a few times. Redmond was great and will be a huge asset. Fast direct running, with the skill to beat a man. I hope that when hooper, snoddy and Fer are back that we play a more attacking style and get some decent delivery into the box. All in all considering we were at half strength, it was a good result and we have 3pts for the taking next week!
