Disappointed with Holt

I've always been one of his biggest fans but I was very disappointed with his comments last night. Why did he feel the need to say anything? He's gone, he's left with an incredible status so why slag off the tactics as a reason for wanting to leave? Besides, Hughton hadn't even been appointed when he handed in a transfer request at end of last season so tactics couldn't have been the reason then and he was happy to sign his new contract. Hughton inherited a team last year which had over-performed and over-relied on Holts goals. He knew he had no choice but to tighten the defence and of course there was very little whining about tactics when we went on the long unbeaten run and beat Man U and Arsenal. Holt returned at the start of last season clearly out of shape and then we really had little potency up front (maybe that's a criticism that could be laid at the feet of McNally and Hughton for not signing someone but it wouldn't have been without good reason). I'm sorry to bring his name u,p but Lambert is usually mentioned when Hughton's tactics are questioned and all I would say is that Lambert was saved last year by spending big on a striker who to be fair has paid off really well, but his defensive record was appalling. This season will tell us far more about Hughton because now he has the strike force too but for me he did a good job last year and Holt should've recognised that rather than having a cheap shot. Finally, I've never heard him publicly thank the fans for the incredible support he received during his time here. If he has then I stand corrected and either way I'll always remember him as one of my favourite players and I still think it a mistake to let him leave.
