They're in a really tough place tbf.

Show any strong opinion on basically anything and they risk a mauling by the press or the fans or both.

Anything that could possibly be interpreted as dissatisfaction and "he's fallen out with the manager," or "the manager's lost the dressing room."

(although that's not with a new signing, admittedly).

Show too much enthusiasm after a move or hint at any criticism of the club they've just left and they risk alienating a bunch of people in a place that maybe they really liked and would want to go back to post-career.

Faced with all the bulls**t, I'd give a f**king bland non-interview too.
