The worktop immediately under my kitchen tap block is so perished that the screw that holds the block in place from the underside came loose, meaning that the taps can twist the pipes around. No probs, I thought: I cam just fix a lath underneath to act as a brace, and put it all back together again. So I found a suitable lath, cut it to length, and cut a profile and screw hole in it. Almost a perfect job.
Then I dropped the locking screw down behind the back of the unit, and couldn't get to it. I was on the point of buying new taps when I remembered that somewhere in the house I have a decent horseshoe magnet. After a prolonged search i found said magnet, tied a bootlace round it, had a bit of a fish about, and dooby-doo, there it is, I found and retrieved the locking screw. Job back on!
And less than two minutes later I dropped the profiled lath down the back of the unit.
