Can we not have a little faith in Chris Hughton and Ewan Chester's judgement?

No-one outside of FCR knows what CH's vision is for the team and how it will line-up and play next season. What is clear is that CH does have a very clear vision of the type of player he wants. Wiki doesn't tell you the whole story. FIFA/FM 2013 doesn't tell you anything.

If Maxi Lopez has a history of being a journeyman, why is that? Why hasn't he fulfilled his potential so far? Why isn't he very prolific? Maybe there's more to it than meets the eye? Maybe CH and EC have identified a role for the type of player like Lopez that acts as a foil or support for our main strikers (RvW and perhaps Hooper?) and so his prowess in front of goal is secondary to the role that he might offer the team.

Nottingham Forest had Grant Holt, but didn't use him to his strengths, and therefore decided he was s**t. We know better. Say Maxi Lopez has been in the same boat over the last few years? Might explain a lot.

Hughton's power of persuasion, making players feel loved and valued, and getting the very best out of them should not be underestimated. It could backfire totally (not everything is going to work), but equally it could be a total revelation. We just don't know, so it's not as simplistic as "don't buy him he's s**t."

Trust that the club have done their homework thoroughly, and have a very clear vision of what they're trying to achieve, and the people who can help them achieve that vision. It's Hughton's way, and McNally certainly wouldn't tolerate anything less.
