Oh yes

Made the author of the book (Alan Duff) distinctly unpopular in certain quarters, as it was maybe a little too close to home for some.

The film of the cartoon Footrot Flats is still my favourite kiwi film - unfortunately it is totally unfathomable to non-kiwis!
