Different sports have different traditions

In snooker you regularly see players call themselves on fouls, even when they're not spotted, but in football clearly there's no such spirit.

I think football would benefit from greater sportsmanship, but it seems like that's all gone out the window now, looking at all the diving and worse that goes on these days. And that's far worse than cricket - at least here we've just benefited from someone else's mistake, not actively gone out to seek an advantage.
